03 mustang transmition?

So i have a 03 mustang v6, automatic (65,000 miles on it)....anyways my car has been screwing up because it will not shift to 3rd gear, or something like that, and the transmition fluid is good, And if i hold down the pedal it will just redline in 2nd and never hit 3rd, (it tops about 45 or 50 mph)


it just started doing it too, like yesterday at random.....Any ideas on what could be wrong with it, it shift from 1st to 2nd just fine. i hope to god i havnt stripped 3rd gear out of it.

Take it in for service--there could be many reasons it%26#039;s not shifting properly. If your transmission is electronic, that opens up even more possible malfuctioning components. If your fluid isn%26#039;t low or burnt, take it to a transmission shop or the dealer if it%26#039;s still under warranty.


Just curious, though--what happens if you put the car into 3 manually? (If you have a 3 speed automatic transmission). Will it just rev and still not engage?

i can tell you your clutch is going . when you have a soft push


on the pedal that means a lot of play no power . fix it and the power will return . sorry no ajustments just fix it some times fluids being to much can cause problem . remember ford fix or repair daily this was the joke until i owned one .
Reply:my dad%26#039;s %26#039;99 s10 blazer was doing that too...he took it to the transmission shop and it was the shift solenoids...it only cost him $80 to get it fixed, but different places charge differently.
Reply:your transmission (the 4R70W) is a 4 speed. if it will not shift to 3rd or 4th (it didnt seem like you were sure...) your problem is a shift solenoid. if your lucky, a simple fix would be to pull the pan and change your transmission filter (its inside your pan) and HOPE for your sake that its just clogged because a solenoid for your trans will cost you a bit! if its your solenoid, expect to pay at least 200+ for parts and labor. 4R70W%26#039;s parts arent cheap.

It depends on how wide the rim is. Take for example a 245/35/R18 tire. The first number is how wide it is and the second number is how high the sidewall of the tire is. If your car is lowered or you want a more sporty look / handling, get a lower sidewall. You can find some info on tire sizes at Tirerack.com





Edit: And the third number is how big the rim is.

anything over a 215 in width will more than likely rub, and you%26#039;ll need a very low profile, pretty much a 35 if you can find it if not a 40 series

Reply:You should get 215/40/18 or the even lower profile tire of 215/35/18. I do think that 225%26#039;s will stick out and maybe rub, so stick with the 215%26#039;s.

I have a 2001 VW Beetle that suddenly loses power when driving 65mph and above.?

It usually happens when I have less than a tank of gas and I am on the free way. It stalls and I pull it into neutral and then pop it back into 5th gear and it continues to run fine. Is it a transmission problem or something in my fuel line? I had my fuel pump replaced a few months ago after it refused to start at the grocery store. This vehicle is costing me my arm! I need to fix it so I can get rid of it. Any possibilities on what it could be would be greatly appreciated!

Restricted fuel supply.
Reply:please get your fuel pump checked and fuel filter changed..Check the fuel regulator too.


It could have been your fuel filter choked b4,this could have caused your fuel pump to go bad.


German Bosch pumps will last at leasr for 10 years or more if you have the filters changed when required.


Look for any vacuum hoses leaks too.


get your spark plugs changed if required.also check the spark plug cables for power leaks.

you have to bleed the air from the fuel system once it runs out it gets air in the system there%26#039;s a bleed valve on the fuel rail you can use for this if im not mistaken,i don%26#039;t work on very many diesel engines so im not 100% sure on that one,good luck.

Suggest that you check with a good independent garage and have them price a rebuilt... However, a 9 year of car may not be worth the price of the new or rebuilt motor
